Hi,
There are any number of great soprano arias. There are stirring ones (Der Holle Rache, etc) and lyrical ones (Cara Nome, Dove Sono, etc) but I think the most beautiful, most lyrical of all is "Depuis le Jour" from Louise by Charpentier. It's a simple text, too, a woman remembering her first embrace, first kiss, first love.
Youtube has several good versions but my faves are 2 from Renee Fleming (one concert, one the Met) and 1 from Anna Moffo (a TV concert).
I don't think there is a more lovely aria for soprano than Depuis le Jour. Your comments or fave lyrical soprano aria?
